In Port Townsend it's common to see deer wandering around the neighborhoods. We got into a bit of a staring contest with one of them. We got a surprising visitor during our walk in the University District. At first, we didn't know what kind of bird it was, but some of our viewers informed us it was a hawk.

We spotted some llamas and sheep during our road trip, so we decided to take a driving-break and observe the animals for a bit.

We watched the osprey hovering over the lake, looking for prey. We actually videotaped one making a dive and actually catch a fish---they make an alarming thud sound as they hit the water. We also saw a rabbit grazing away, but we guess the Osprey didn't see it, or they don't prey on rabbits.

It was an awesome trip thru the San Juans, taking the Anacortes Ferry to Orcas Island. As we drove thru the island, we noticed some sheep, so we just decided to stop and observe a bit.

We were just hanging around a park, watching the scenery, bees all around the blooming flowers. Just for fancy we followed some of the bees doing their thing.

During our visit to Alki Beach in Seattle, we came across 2 seagulls at odds with each other. Actually it looked only one was disgruntled as the other seagull seemed to just want to get away. It's quite the scene at La Jolla / San Diego, CA as you see the sea lions fill the shores along beach and rocks. Here we caught a group getting some shut eye as the tourists looked on.

The Billy Frank Jr. National Wildlife Refuge is the largest estuary/wildlife refuge in Washington State. It's a great place to visit when you're coming thru Olympia on your way to Seattle or heading south. There's a 5 mile total round trip on a boardwalk if you're in the mood for an easy and relaxing hike. Here's a few video clips and pics of our visits over the last few years.

While visiting the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge near Olympia, WA, we noticed a caterpillar strolling across the parking lot; we thought we'd join it for awhile. :)

After a few years in the ocean, these salmon return to the Issaquah Fish Hatchery, where their eggs will be collected to spawn new salmon, in hopes to sustain the salmon population.
